| Five
years ago, when Carter was 11 years old, he and his mother landed at Burbank Airport
in California, to try his hand in show business. His goal was to get some acting
training under his belt and then head back to Tampa, Florida, to pursue his acting
there. Life moves faster in L.A and things moved pretty fast for Carter too! After
just a few weeks in town he had been training, signed with an agency, and began
the auditioning process. It wasn't long before he was booking jobs and his stay
was extended. What was meant to be a few weeks in L.A turned into a few months
and eventually came to a point that his entire family moved out to L.A so that
they could all be together and Carter could go for his dream. Growing
up in Tampa, Carter was very involved in school and sports. He was an all-star
baseball as a pitcher and football as a quarterback. He played AAU travel baseball,
and was often recognized as MVP for both sports. During the time he played football
Carter ran for a 99 yard touchdown. He was also an honor student. Although he
excelled in sports and enjoyed every minute, he still had a love for acting. At
the age of 7 Carter began acting classes with Peter and Aniko Palmer. (Peter Palmer
played the role of the original " Little Abner"). This led to community
theater where he was seen by a local agent and signed the next day. There seemed
to be a great balance in Carter's life for all the things he loved to do. Until
that trip to L.A!! Things
had come to a point for Carter at a young age where he had to choose acting or
sports. Acting was an easy decision for him. Since making the move Carter has
starred in numerous television shows and films. When the remake of THE BAD NEWS
BEARS was announced, Carter thought it was almost too good to be true, as he was
able to take advantage of two of his passions with one project. In the film, Carter
stars as Joey Bullock - the infamous pitcher for the "other" team. Oscar
nominee Greg Kinnear plays Carter's dad and team coach. "Filming BAD NEWS
BEARS was like playing every day - it was not work," says Carter, a huge
baseball fan, "I had the best time working with Greg." Immediately
after the movie wrapped, NBC cast Carter in "Surface," the adventure
drama series that centered on the appearance of mysterious sea creatures in the
deep ocean and tracks the lives of a variety of characters. In addition to his
work on "Surface," Carter has had recurring roles and guest appearances
on some of televisions most popular shows including Nickelodeon's "Unfabulous,"
CBS's CSI: Miami ," "Lost," "CSI: New York," "Everwood,"
"House," "The Bernie Mac Show," "The 4400," and
"Without a Trace" among others. Carter also starred in the Disney Channel's
"Life Is Ruff" and the feature film "Keeping up with the Stein's" Carter's
latest role is that of " Jack Holden" in the new CBS drama/musical "Viva
Laughlin" set to air this fall Sunday evenings at 8:00 pm EST. Currently
Carter lives in L.A with his parents Eric and Mary, his sister Tiffany (23) ,
brother Renneker (17), also an actor, 3 dogs and 2 cats. He still plays baseball
and football on the weekends with his friends and family and is an avid poker
player. |
